SMILEY takes centre stage at London Fashion Week

Smiley continued its long-standing tradition of keeping a ‘Smile is always in style’ on the runway at this weeks London Fashion Week, with the launch of the latest licensed collection from uber stylish London accessories designer Anya Hindmarch. This is the second season the designer has featured Smiley in its catwalk show.

The AW14 show, which took place on Tuesday 18th February 2014 in front of the cream of London’s hipster community at Billingsgate Hall and was appropriately titled ‘COUNTER CULTURE’, received critical acclaim from the fashion press.

Inspired by treating the everyday ordinary in an extraordinary way, Hindmarch took Supermarket conveyor belts and household items, such as cereal boxes, crisps packets and washing powder boxes, to the catwalk in a playful take on everyday life.

The show paid homage to some of the UK’s leading icons from supermarket shelves, whilst the finale was played out to ‘Get Happy’ by Judy Garland and featuring printed silk Smiley scarves and chic leather Smiley tote bags, to ensure a really good-feeling end to one of the highlight shows of AW14 London Fashion Week.

Smiley’s continued presence on the catwalk and the amazing press that has followed ensures the Smiley brand remains a must have trend in global fashion today.

London Fashion Week: SMILEY & Anya’s Hindmarch’s SS14 collection

As part of Anya’s Hindmarch’s SS14 collection, a cheeky and Smiley inspired collaborative piece was launched at the end of her galactic catwalk show.

Drawing inspiration from the plastic bag made most famous in New York, Anya worked with Smiley to create a luxury python Smiley face shopping bag, printed with “Have a nice Day. Thank you!”

Presented from hanging wires, several of the must-have fashion accessories for 2013/14 were displayed between flying models and giant Smiley zorbals in the ceiling at the glamorous Central Hall in Westminster.

Named the ‘Happy Shopper’, it’s typical Anya’s British twist of humour to translate such a easily available plastic product into a desirable and limited edition piece which had heads turning on the final day of London Fashion Week.

Smiley meets Fyodor Golan haute couture at London Fashion Week.

On the 15th February at the  Savoy Hotel’s Grand Ballroom, the energies of Smiley and Fyodor Golan came together for a collaboration of premium couture with our iconic logo: a four piece collection was presented on the catwalk; demonstrating unique application, technique and usage of leather materials.  The designer duo allowed the inclusion of an edgy limited edition Smiley London goodie bag giveaway to the two front rows, furthering the affiliation between our two great brands.

Launched in 2010, Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman created a luxury fashion brand built around the couture sensibility.

Fyodor Golan have never been afraid to mix up the couture landscape with their own style and taste, such as their experimentation with KISS rock band influenced designs.
Smiley is, of course, a well known music icon ranging back to the years of hippy rock, through the heydays of edgy rock ‘n roll, disco and house music. The collaboration was a match made in fashion rock ‘n roll heaven.

The entire Limited Edition Collection will be available at Smiley Fagship store in Shoreditch, London.

Keep Smilin’
